Will Smith was born Willard Christopher Smith, Jnr. On September 25th, 1968 in West Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Willard and Caroline Smith, Snr.His father was a refridgerator engineer and his mother was a school board employee. He was the second of four children, Pam (b. 1964), and twins Ellen and Harry (b. 1971). He grew up in the middle class section of Phillie. He got the nickname “Prince” because of the way he charmed his way out of trouble. He had been rapping since the age of 12. At a party he met Jefforey Townes and they later formed a group called DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. They became popular, and released two albums, and won a grammy for “He’s the DJ, I’m the rapper”. When he was 18, he stared in a show called the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. The show ran for 6 seasons.
