In January of 2004, five boys from various towns throughout Maryland introduced their newly completed band, Underscore, to the world for the very first time. Matthew Flyzik [vocals], Jason Tipton [bass], Phil Moy [ guitar and vocals], Ryan Sherrill [guitar], and Paul Martinez [drums] make up what is known today as Underscore. It took two years of name switching, line up changes, and various other adjustments for Underscore to finally settle down and feel complete. Previously Underscore released and EP and a full length before the addition of Flyzik.
