That's how some describe thirdgate, an up-and-coming band from Tempe, Arizona, that mixes jazz complexity with the energy of progressive rock. An alliance of members from the successful groups Horticulture and Phatty Acidz, the members of thirdgate have started anew to come up with a sound that is uniquely their own. After more than a year skulking in their secret lab, they have emerged with original songs that emphasize their passion for inspired jams, tight harmonies, and energetic music that's as fun to play as it is to listen and dance to. Like most bands, thirdgate formed almost by accident. An unfortunate beer-spilling incident led to the Phatty Acidz losing their drummer.
