Raised by a family of veteranos in old traditions and living by the words passed down that "only the true survive", Sylent grew up and lived his entire life in the city of Norwalk, Southern Cali a.k.a. "The Walk". Witnessing many homies get killed and become addicts and convicts, the streets gave birth to Sylent in the mid-'90's by turning him from innocent to guilty. Given his name by the homie "Ese Joker Loco", Sylent changed the spelling (from I to Y) as a way to show his name does not only mean someone who is "quiet". "Sylent" also means someone who: never rats, walks the walk and silences fools who talk shit by creeping up on them without making a sound (So don't ask Y???). With years of writing reality-based poetry in high school, Sylent was encouraged to turn his poetry into raps by his homie "Sleepy".
