Canadian jazz composer/pianist Stacie McGregor began studying piano at the age of six. As a twelve year old she received early recognition as an accomplished composer by being awarded third place in "The Yamaha National Song Writing Contest". Originally from Winnipeg, musical studies brought her to Toronto which has since become her home. A consistently expressive player in 1999 she received a Juno award for her performance on the "Best World Music" recording (Omnisource by Madagascar Slim). Her debut CD titled "Straight Up" has received international recognition charting in more than 20 countries. The song "Top Cat" from the same album was selected as a finalist in the Jazz Category of the 2004 USA Songwriting Competition. In 2007 Stacie has been nominated for the General Motors Grand Jazz Award and for the Étoiles Galaxie Award at the Festival Internation de Jazz de Montreal (The Montreal Jazz Festival).
