The Raveonettes consist of Sharin Foo, Sune Rose Wagner, Manoj Ramdas, and Jakob Hyer. The group began with Wagner and Foo. Since the late 1990s, Wagner wanted to start a band. He left his hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark to re-locate to Hell’s Kitchen, New York. From there he moved to Las Vegas, west Hollywood, and island off of Seattle, and eventually back to Copenhagen where he got together with Foo. Wagner’s influences are Buddy holly, Bob Dylan, the Everly Brothers, Sonic Youth, and Jesus & Mary Chain. Foo wanted to start a band because she was fed up with the lack of influential music groups coming out of Denmark. When she met Wagner, she was playing shows at local clubs. Foo’s influences are The Beatles and Velvet Underground. For sixth moths, Foo had lived in India where she studied gawwali music and dhrupad; ancient Hindu music.
