Rasputina was established by cellist and lead singer Melora Creager (Kansas). The second to join the group was Julia Kent (Canada). A few other ladies have come and left. Carpella Parvo (cello) and Norman Block (drums) were in the group up and possibly through the debut CD Thanks For The Ether (1996 Columbia Records), when Agnieszka Rybska (of Poland) joined. In 1996, Rasputina met Marilyn Manson, who (with Twiggy Ramirez) helped with remixes, making the EP Transylvanian Regurgitations (1996 Columbia Records). Rasputina toured with Marilyn Manson on the Dead to the World tour for a while, although they didn't feel they fit in. For a while, Lisa Haney toured with Rasputina to fill in while there was no third cello. During the group's second album, How We Quit The Forest (1998 Columbia Records), Chris Vrenna (of Nine Inch Nails) joined as the drummer.
