Roots separated by 260 miles of A1, Pilots Of Japan flexed into their current line up for security reasons in March 2003. They are loosely based in a settlement on the East Herts border, just north of London. Over the last year, they have completed their debut album. Recorded in a watchmakers factory, bedromms, bathrooms and a Cornish villa, its a self made affair with sci-fi levels of ambition. The sound is a nod to Pavement, a wink at Grandaddy, a feel of the Wedding Present and a wiggle with the Stone Roses - but this is a completely new dynamic of grim fairy tales, sunshine and futurism.
