I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. I moved to New Orleans in 1979, then moved to Boston in 1981, I studied guitar with Mordy Ferber and Oscar Stagnaro, played with the Leo Islas Quintet, John Payne, Grupo Galaxia,etc. I moved back to New Orleans in 1991 where I took lessons with Hank Mackie,I also took a couple of lessons with the great Richie Zellon, I've played with: Brasilliance, Acoustic Swiftness, Elegant Gypsy, Anaconda, Bob Folse, Fuego, Samba Rio, Casa Samba, Hector Gallardo and his Songo Allstars, Joe Canoura's Jazz Trio, Kike Bonilla's Latin Jazz, Otra, Los Vecinos, Mas Mamones, Mayabeque, Ricardo Crespo, Cubanismo, Mark Bingham's New Orleans Jazz Allstars, Impulso, Shango, Ancestro,John Boutte and The Yockamo Allstars, Patrice Fisher's Arpa,etc.. I've played guitar and bass and arranged and sometimes directed "Fredy Omar con su Banda".
