Operation Ivy was a Ska-Punk band formed in the late '80's which would later generate a cult following and inspire many third wave ska bands.
Operation Ivy formed in May of 1987 in Berkely, CA. Vocalist Jesse Michaels joined with guitarist/vocalist Lint (Tim Armstrong), bassist Matt McCall better known as Matt Freeman and to finish the rhythm section, drummer Dave Mello. Operation Ivy played a raw punk rock and added saxophone player Paul Bae to give the classic Ska-Punk sound OpIv is so best known for. The newly formed group played shows all over the Bay Area loved by many and loathed by many "true punks" for there integration of Ska. Never the less, OpIv signed on to Lookout! Records and released the single VULNERABILITY that same year. They released the HECTIC e.p. a year later.
