Mya Harrison was born on the 10th of October, 1979. At an early age she took dancing lessons and improved her skills in tap and jazz. It was only at the age of 16 when her father discovered her talent for singing. He submitted a demo tape to Interscope Records and the gave her a recording contract. She worked on her debut album for a couple of years until in 1998, it was released. It was titled \\\"Mya\\\" and it hit Top 30 on the Billboard charts. The album collaborated with such performers as Missy Elliott and Sisqo. The first single, \\\"It\\\'s All About Me\\\" was released earlier that year, and charted suprisingly well, going on to peak at #6 on the Billboard singles chart. The second single, \\\"Movin\\\' On\\\" was released in early 1999 and did not fare as well, peaking at #34.
