My Morning Jacket was formed in 1998 in Louisville, Kentucky by Jim James (vocals, guitar). James created My Morning Jacket with his cousin, Jimmy Quaid (guitar), and friends: Two tone Tommy (bass), and J. Glenn (drums). The group would practice at Quaid’s grandparent’s house and play small gigs at local house parties and community centers. There music eventually caught the attention of the independent label, Darla Records. My morning Jacket’s debut album, The Tennessee fire, debuted in 1999 to critical acclaim. The album may have gotten the group get noticed in the United States, but it made them stars in Europe. The band played four tours in Belgium and the Netherlands. Also, there was a television documentary based on the band by a Netherlands film company. My Morning Jacket’s sophomore album, At Dawn, was released in 2001. By this time, drummer J. Glenn had left the group and he was replaced by K.C. Guetig. Also, keyboardist Danny Cash was added to the band’s lineup. The albu... |
