In 1983 Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard joined a band known as Green River. They came out with a total of three EP\\\'s, then disbanded in 1988. Steve Turner(former GR guitarist), and GR vocalist Mark Arm formed Mudhoney, the definition of grunge which still exists today. Stone and Jeff joined singer Andrew Wood to form a new band called Mother Love Bone. While Green River had been more punkish, MLB was much more oriented towards classic rock. They rocked on for a while, writing loads of songs. With a record deal secured, they were ready to release their first album, Apple, in 1990. Noone knows if MLB would have had as profound of an effect on music as the grunge movement, and we never will, for just before the release of Apple, Wood overdosed on heroin and was found dead. The album was eventually released, but it found little success as the singer was no longer there to help form their sound. Mother Love Bone was disbanded.
