Fans say MEA combines the lyrical virtuosity and passion of Tori Amos with the firey and danceable likeability of Bjork. Armed with a cello and a big, honest voice, MEA performs an exciting set of dark, soulful and rhythmic music. She describes her newest release “Cocoon to Butterfly”, as “an emotional dance through a dimly lit alley-way on the way to a potentially dangerous party” MEA began playing her special brand of cello-based songs to showcase under the red and white tent of her hometown summer-festival called Summerfest. A few years later, she moved to Toronto to pursue a classical music degree at the University of Toronto. She played to Toronto clubs and impressed audiences with a combination of urban sounds and a folk-fantasy aesthetic.
