In 2002, Kylie Minogue hit mainstream America’s pop/dance genre and jumped into stardom. Many young people saw her as a new, fresh face. Others, however, saw her as a has-been. It is true that Minogue has been around since 1987, but she did not manage to reach total superstardom in the United States until this past year.

Kylie was born on May 28, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. The singer never thought she would be a singer. In fact, she dreamed of being an actress. In 1979 she began acting for the Australian series, Skyways. She soon got a job as a main character in the children’s series, The Henderson Kids. Kylie’s popularity exploded in the United Kingdom and Australia when she landed a job as a character in the Australian soap series, Neighbours. Neighbours, which is still incredibly popular in the UK and Australia, also helped jump start the career of singer Natalie Imbruglia in 2000.
