Sky, Deezal, Ray Dog and Swan. They could be the names of the MTV’s Real World cast members, but instead, they’re the talented lineup of Kickin’ Daisies, an emerging band that mixes alternative rock and hard-core pop. There weren’t many promising options for a couple of pizzeria employees and two college students who hail from that hellhole known as Trenton, in the (not-by-coincidence) Garden State. But there was their love of and penchant for making music, and a mysterious six-degrees-of-separation connection since childhood. And so the seeds for Kickin’ Daisies were sewn. Fronted by Sky, just barely legal, Kickin’ Daisies sprouts good vibes, youthful enthusiasm and hooky sounds that get locked in the memory bank, gaining interest with each repeated chorus.
