My musical education began at age 5, but I did not become aware I wanted music to be my career until I was 16. It was then I competed in a statewide (California) vocal contest sponsored by the Bank of America, where the first prize was a 2-year scholarship to study voice in a renowned conservatory of music in Paris, France. It was one of the biggest thrills of my life when I heard my name announced as being the first-prize winner.

Later, I married a Venezuelan and headed off to make my home in South America. By no means did my new environment slow me down, musically speaking. I simply learned to speak Spanish and added Latin music to my favorite tunes. While I was in Venezuela, and after my return to the US, I performed leading rolls on a variety of stages in a wide spectrum of musical and non-musical productions.
