Jin Au-Yeung was born and raised in Miami, Florida to immigrant parents from China. While he was growing up Jin’s parents attempted to have a Chinese Restaurant, but it did not go too well. When he was only in eighth grade, Jin began rapping. He would have battles in his cafeteria at school. Growing up, the young rapper was heavily influenced by Nas, The Wu-Tang Clan, and Jay-Z. Jin knew he wanted a career in music so at only twenty years old, he moved to New York City. He got street credibility by battling on both the streets and via the Internet. He soon got a place on the cable channel, BET. BET has two shows called “Freestyle on Fridays” and “106 & Park.” Jin immediately impressed everyone with his quick wit and smart lyrics. He soon developed a cult following. After his seventh battle victory, Jin lifted up his sweatshirt to reveal the Ruff Ryders Medallion.
