Praise and worship is an important part of our walk with God. Formed in 2001, His Word set out to bring praise and worship songs to people with their rock-based style. They feature a combination of popular Christian music with their own original Christian-based songs. His Word strives to make everyone in the audience a part of their music, something that sets them apart from other bands. Their combination of worship and rock has been influenced by worship driven artists including Jeff Deyo and Michael W. Smith. Band leader Bill Overton and several other original members of His Word helped start the GTY Praise Band in 1998. They led music for youth activities and began leading worship for the contemporary service at St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church. In 2001 Bill and several members of the praise band formed His Word and began touring with St. Anne's youth group, Grace to Youth.
