Goldfinger was formed by guitarist Charlie Paulson, vocalist/guitarist John Feldmann, drummer Darrin Pfeiffer and bass player Simon Williams. Based in Los Angeles, Goldfinger blend elements of ska and punk with emocore. The band took a while to be noticed, and Rick Rubin of American Records was among many who turned down their demo tape saying they sounded too close to Greenday. Despite being rejected earlier on, they eventually signed to Mojo records. Their self-titled debut album included the radio hit "Here In Your Bedroom". They then toured with the Sex pistols, No doubt and Reel big fish. In 1997 their second album, "Hang ups" didn't live up to expectations and Simon Williams left the band to be replaced by Kelly Lemieux. With their new lineup they released an eight-track all-covers live EP, Darrin's Coconut Ass: Live, a year later.
