6 short sharp points about Gas & the General:- 1. Originally formed in 2001 as a protest duo in response to the stench/horror of rockin’ Johnny Howard and Co. In response to the ‘Tampa Incident’ released a single ‘International Waters’ which was picked up by Sydney Radio 2 SER and used to promote nation wide pro-refugees rallies. Began playing live gigs and political rallies throughout greater Sydney soon after. 2. Expanded eventually to a four piece [+ rhythm section] in order to advance their punchy message and sound. Songs mostly written by Gas Wylde with Evan ‘The General’ Lee on lead and slide guitar accompaniment. Various team changes over 2003-04 led to the current hard-hitting take no prisoners line-up. To date G & the G have released two independent E.P’s ‘Heartless Little Country’ and ‘International Waters’. 3.
