Funeral for a Friend consists of Matt Davies (vocals), Kris Roberts (guitar), Darran Smith (Guitar), Gareth Davies (bass), and Ryan Richards (drums). The beginning of Funeral for a Friend began with a band called January thirst. When January Thirst split in December 2001, remaining members formed Funeral for a Friend. The group’s name is generally assumed to have been spawned from the Elton John album under the same title. This is not correct. Actually, the group got their name from a hardcore rock group from Florida, Planes Mistaken For Stars, that had a song entitled, “Funeral for a Friend.” The members, who are all from the Valleys of South Wales, formed the band in early 2002. Only a few months after forming, the group recorded their debut EP entitled Between Order and Model.
