Frank Corrales has been internationally acclaimed as the master of the Tex-Mex guitar. He has single-handedly revived a guitar style from the 1920s and 1930s that puts the steel-string guitar in the forefront of a variety of Mexican songs, rather than the button accordion. On these cuts he performs several of the best-known songs from Mexico backed by second guitarist Ben Tavera King and a variety of other musicians. Several of the tunes have a connection with Tex-Mex food so occasionally the sound of tortillas being patted are heard as a rhythm instrument. Tavera is featured on his composition "Enchilada Rojas." |
