Finch started out as Numb. But, with their pop-emo music, the name never really fit them. So, they changed their name to Finch. Nate Barcalow has said that he likes the name because it sounds sissy but the band is anything but. The band eventually came together with Nate Barcalow on vocals, Randy Strohmeyer on guitar, Alex Linares on guitar, Derek Doherty on bass, and Alex Pappas on drums. Because Randy was such a huuuuuge fan of Drive-Thru Records, he was invited to bring Finch into their studio to let the company hear what they had. The little record company immediately loved the band and signed them. On Oct 9 2001, Finch released their “Falling Into Place� EP with four extremely poppy and raw songs. Then came the ever popular “What It Is To Burn� album released on March 12, 2002 with the hit bonus track song name after the album.
