At first, the members of Finch called themselves Numb. But, with their pop-emo music, they realized they were anything but. So, they changed their name to Finch. The group consists of Nate Barcalow (vocals), Randy Strohmeyer (guitar), Alex Lindres 9guitar), Derek Doherty (bass), and Alex Pappas (drums). The bands signing to a label is due in part to Randy’s determination. Even before joining Finch, Randy always admired Drive-Thru Records. He used to write them fan letters. After joining the band, he called the company. As a sort of pity offer, he was invited to bring Finch into the studio to let the company hear what they had. Drive-Thru was thrown away. They immediately liked the band and offered them a contract right there. Of course, the guys signed to the label. On October 9, 2001, Finch released their debut EP entitled Falling Into Place.
