Aida is the story of the love between Radames, the commander of the Egyptian army, and Aida, a slave of the Pharaoh’s daughter, Amneres. In the Grand March, Radames is returning to Egypt after defeating the Ethiopian army in war. The march celebrating his triumphant return, originally heralded by trumpets, is played on trombones.
