Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi in a small shotgun house. He was the second born of twins. His elder brother, Jesse Garon, was stillborn. Elvis grew up in poverty. At age 13, his father, Vernon Presley, and mother, Gladys Presley, loaded up the car and moved out to Memphis, Tennessee so his father could have a new job with hopefully better pay. Elvis would walk around the town during the day listening to the blacks playing blues music. He was so fascinated with their moves, which he would later do himself earning him the name "Elvis, the Pelvis" (which he didn't like being called) In highschool, Elvis attended Humes Highschool. He was pretty much a loner because he wore his hair long and slicked back with long sideburns while everyone else wore crew cuts. One day while in the bathroom, a couple boys tried to cut his hair.
