Default was formed in Vancouver, British Columbia under the influences of Seattle-Grunge Rock bands such as Nirvana, Sound Garden, and Pearl Jam. The group began in the summer of 1999 under the name, The Fallout. The band consisted of friends, Jeremy Hora and Danny Craig. The two then auditioned singers and picked classmate, Dallas Smith. With a temporary bassist, the group recorded their first demo. The front man of the group, Nickelback, Chad Kroeger heard the group and took a huge interest in them. Kroeger offered to produce the group’s independent recording sessions. The group then began playing shows in Vancouver. In 2000, the boys entered a talent competition that was being sponsored by a local radio station. The group won the competition, and as a prize they were given a spot on the Vancouver Seeds 200 Sampler CD. Soon after winning, the boys changed their band name to Default. Their single, ‘Deny,” was a hit on local radio stations. Default soon got a deal with TVT recording... |
