Craig Ashley David was born on May 5, 1981 in Southampton, England. Growing up, he loved music and was highly influenced by R&B and Reggae. As a teenager, he performed on the local radio station, PCRS 106.5FM. He then began doing shows at local clubs. He soon met Mark hill, a member of Artful Dodger. Hill was impressed with David’s version of Damage’s “I’m ready,” and Human League’s “Human.” David’s own song, “Rewind,” soon became an underground hit as well as his single, “Fill Me In.” The single, ‘Fill me In,” became number one during the summer of 2000 in Britain. At only 19 years old, David had become Britain’s youngest male solo artist with a number one single. He soon signed to Windstar Records. His next single, “7 Days,” also became a smash hit .David’s debut album, Born To Do It, did very well. Scandal hit Craig David in February 2001, however.
