In his youth, Casey “Confidence” Barwick was introduced to hip-hop music and began making it his own. Creating beats through a collage of music he heard, using a simple tape recorder. He began reciting his main influence, Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, and replaced his (Q-Tip’s) lyrics with his own slang. With a lot of practice and great inspirations from artists such as De La Soul, Bob Marley, and Rakim, Confidence created a style in which he could call his own. A few years later Confidence put out his first EP entitled “Hidden Frequency”. With musical, conscious complex lyricism, and delivery ahead of his time. He then followed up with three more EP’s titled Acoustic Coalition, Foresight, & Loose Leaf Paper. Before the release of “Foresight”, Confidence won “Simply the Best”, a local contest for rappers and singers.
