Chris Cornell was born on July 20, 1964 in Seattle. He was one of six brothers and sisters (although there seems to be one more that no one ever lists...). Cornell dropped out of high school to take a job as a cook but soon started his first band, The Jones Street Band. They covered songs from ACDC, Sex Pistols, and The Ramones. In 1982 Cornell joined a band called the Shemps which had been formed by Kim Thayil's (Soundgarden member) roommate. Then in 1986, he formed Soundgarden being the vocalist and guitarist (he taught himself guitar and bass himself). After awhile of being in Soundgarden, he soon had his own solos with guitar and vocals, just him. Soundgarden split up in 1997. Soon Cornell started a band with ex- Rage Against The Machine's guitarist, Tom Morello, and they started Audioslave. They became a big band in 2002, leading the Ozzfest.
