Carl Ashley Rapheal Barat was born on the 6th of june 1976 in Basingstoke. As a youth, his time was often divided between his mother, his work at an armaments factory and his father. Barat\\\'s mother was a member of the commune-dwelling counter culture and peace groups. for a large part of his childhood Barat lived on commune in somerset with his mother. In 1996 Barat was taking a drama degree in Brunel University. There He met a young girl named Amy Doherty with whom he got on well. Amy soon introduced Carl to her brother Peter and the two cemented a close relationship. Together Pete Doherty and Carl formed a mythical veiw of British arcadia,which they called \\\'Albion\\\'.Albion was equally populated by Dickensian Gentlemen and cockney wise-boys.
