Byron Au Yong creates musical projects scored for Asian, European and hand-made instruments. He has composed over 50 works that have been performed in Canada, China, Germany, Japan, South Korea and the United States.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer writes that Au Yong's music is "a beguiling hybrid of cultures" and The Stranger writes that Au Yong "elegantly mingles folk elements with theatrical staging and an astute ear for the avant."
