He was attending M.I.T. at the time, earning his Masters Degree and working as a senior product designer at Polaroid Corporation. He built basically everything in his basement studio, and released a tape, playing all the instruments himself. Epic records stumbled across the tape and signed Boston. So Tom got a group of local musicians and re-recorded the album in 1976. Their debut album, with the help of the first single More Than A Feeling, was the fastest selling debut in rock history. It's catchy vocals by Brad Delp and deeply distorted twin leads were profoundly addictive. The band followed up their debut with Don't Look Back in 1978.
