Bob Jasper was born in Colfax, Washington, a small farming town near the Idaho border. His father, an electrician, gave him his first guitar and a small homemade amplifier when he was 10 years old, on the very same day that the Beatles first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. By the age of 12, he had formed his first band and began playing sock-hops, mixers, and proms at all the schools in the area. Being the only Rock 'n Roll group in a six-county area, rarely a weekend went by that he wasn't out there performing somewhere. After high school Bob moved to Seattle, where he was introduced to the blues by veteran David Brewer. They formed The Johnny Walker Blues Band, with the rhythm section from Bob's school band -- Johnny Walker on drums and Phil Haxton ( RIP my friend ) on bass. Brewer's brother-in-law, Kenneth "Boom" Gaspar, (currently keyboardist for Pearl Jam), was brought in from Hawaii to complete the group. A few years later, Bob ended up in Portland, Or... |
