B.J. Jansen was born January 3rd, 1981, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated in May of 2004 from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Studies and a Minor in Political Science. While studying at the university, he became known throughout the Louisville Metro Area as a Baritone Saxophonist. He worked as a sideman with various local groups including the Linear Motion Nonet and the Sonic Nonet. With these groups he performed on Dick Sisto's "Jazz Folio" radio show and WFPK's "Late Set At The Jazz Factory: Live Broadcast". Another notable highlight was a tour of Brazil with the U of L Jazz Ensembles during the summer of 2001. In 2002, he formed The Louisville Jazz Project. With this group he performed many times in the local area until his graduation. After graduation he relocated to the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area. B.J.
