Following rave reviews and national airplay on his debut release, roots gospel guitarist Ben Bowen King follows up with more classic gospel songs on "A LAYING ON OF SONGS." The inspiration for the music on "A LAYING ON OF SONGS" comes from the practice of where church folks gather around a sick or depressed friend and sing classic American hymns such as "Amazing Grace," "Shall We Gather By The River" and "Blessed Assurance." To recreate the feeling of one of these sessions King plays the steel-string acoustic guitar in an "altered" tuning favored by country preachers.
