Every once in a while, a band comes around that changes the face of music and inspires a whole new generation of musicians. Altostratus is NOT one of those bands. To quote Minerva McGregor, the leader of the apathetic quartet: “Our music is for everyone who just wants to crawl back into bed…our entire philosophy can be summed up in…’five more minutes’”. Their eclectic blend of rhythm, melody, and pure rock-inspired rebellion and individualism is what makes Altostratus a fan favorite and inspires their followers to just “shut up and do it”, as their bassist (who is known as ‘Flumal' or the Chicken King) would say. Many have tried in vain to pin them down to a specific genre, but with a flamenco-inspired drummer, a punk-inspired guitarist, a metal-inspired bassist, and a soul-inspired singer: it’s nearly impossible. “I don’t like to think in terms of genres...a good band will defy the rules.” Says McGregor “Like my mom says ‘you can call me anything you want, just don’t call me late ...
