| One of the originators of the Memphis underground rap explosion and considered a pioneer of the Dirty South Crunk/Buck style of Hip-Hop popularized by Lil Jon and The Eastside Boys, Al Kapone is blazing the rap scene with his do-it-your self attitude & fully motivated style. Al's skills landed him a writing and producing job for Craig Brewer's film, Hustle And Flow, picked up by Paramount/MTV Films and produced by film pioneer John Singleton (responsible for launching the movie career of Ice Cube with "Boyz In The Hood" and working with a host of stars like Janet Jackson and 2Pac's "Poetic Justice" to name a few.)
Al Kapone gained notoriety for his live show, performances that electrify audiences, Black & White, college and street. His ability to connect with the crowd, like all great performers, caught the attention of Hustle And Flow's director and secured him a walk on action role in the movie as one of the multi-platinum artist, Ludacris', posse members.
Now with a major movie under his belt Kapone remains focused on his independent music career writing and producing for other artists as well as his next album. . Look for Al on tour this spring and summer with The North Mississippi Allstars (one of the hottest jam bands) and a tentative tour with 8Ball & MJG in the works. The best is yet to come for this writer, producer, performer and now actor known to the indie rap world as Al Kapone. |
