So how exactly did AFI (aka A Fire Inside) get started? Well, it all started off in Ukiah, California when Davey Havok (vocals) and his friend Markus Stopholese (guitar) were eating lunch and just decided to start a band, none of them knowing how to play any instruments. Well, it was soon agreed on by fellow members Adam Carson (drums) and Vick (bass), and AFI was officially formed in early 1991. They took much influence from bands like The Misfits and The Cure, which is the hybrid that caressed AFI. They released their first EP entitled Behind the Times. And shortly after, Vick left the band and wqas replaced by Geoff Kresge. Well, basically the band somewhat split up and moved away for college. It wasn't until 1992 that they returned for a re-union show in California. They felt so much energy from the crowd, and so much enthusiasm, that they decided to forget school and focus mainly on the band.
