| You have a new band, a Stevie & Fleetwood Mac tribute, tell us about them?
SNI: A lot has gone on with my tribute band. Anyone who has been in a band can understand, the changes and sometimes heartaches. But it is all good...things turn out for the best.. Our goal is to be the best Stevie Nicks & Fleetwood Mac tribute band there can be, and everyone wants this. I chose the name "Timeless" for the band, as Stevie says that a lot, in interviews and such, and also in 3 (or more?) songs..and it fits what we are doing, her music IS "timeless." Everyone is our band is very fun and talented...it is a JOY.
Is that your real hair, or a wig?
SNI: 95% of the photos you see are all my real hair. There are about 2-3 where I have a wig on + my real hair (I always buy wigs that match)..wigs are SO super! My own hair is now 28" long, and the wigs or pieces I wear to just add fullness or even MORE length (can your hair ever be TOO long? I don't think so...LOL!) Now I know why Stevie wears wigs/extensions so much, they ROCK! I only buy top quality wigs from great merchants.
What are your favourite songs on the new Fleetwood Mac CD?
SNI: My very fav (I think I am the minority..haha!) is "Everybody Finds Out", and then "Smile At You" and "Red Rover"/"Come" tied for third.
Where are you performing this Fall/Winter?
SNI: So far we have played in the KY area, private parties and venues. We hope to be booking private parties, casino boats, large venues, etc...starting in the KY, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee area...but no where is too far to bring our tribute! Hope to bring the Illusions to the U.K. in 2005! Check out Timeless Dates on the page
HERE.
What parfum(s) do you use?
SNI: Well, I know Stevie wears Chanel (I saw it backstage + her assistant told me) so I tried that, but didn't like it so much on myself. I love "Opium" on very strong nights...Also "Tea Rose", everyone loves it when I wear that! And "Angel", by Thierry Mugler. Also the pure oil (and I love the incense, too) of Nag Champa.
What is your favourite article of clothing Stevie wears?
SNI: I love the gold dust woman shawl, and the old & new Stand Back Cape and also the old White Winged Dove shawl.
How old are you?
SNI: I turned 34 Sept. 14, 2004.
How tall are you?
SNI: 5'5 without platforms, of course! :-)
What is your "Passion"?
SNI: I would have to say my passion is animals...I love animals more than anything in the world...kitties are my favourites, but I love dogs, birds, wild animals, mice, any of Nature's amazing creations. If I had my way I would have a house with the biggest acreage ever, and every stray animal I saw would have a home, be loved and fed. As it is, I have 4 kitties in one tiny apartment, and two others at my Mom's...but if a kitten was crying outside tomorrow, she would be the newest angel in my home!
Where do you get your clothes?
SNI: From all over the Internet, eBay, and from some very cool friends. I just recently made some new items, too, check my finery page!
What equipment do you use to record your demos?
SNI: Really great stuff, I love singing at home, almost more than anywhere in the world, because of the sound! I use an EV N/D767a microphone, Digitech Studio processer, Sound Tech amp, Behringer mixing board, Zoom PS-02 Studio recorder, Cubase and Sonar software to record, and tons of speakers and monitors all over the room! This equipment took me over 3 years to acquire, but I honestly think it is some of the best available for home studio work. OH, and Sennheiser headphones, so I don't blow the neighbors out of their apartment, :-)!!! This equipment cost a fortune, but when it comes to singing, I won't hold back on cost, to get the best, I can also help any other singers/musicians find great stuff!
Do you do anything special for your singing voice?
SNI: Of course. You must! I have vaporizors lined up around my bed & all over the house, running 24-7. I drink special tea, just for singers. I do many vocal warm ups and have many hours of training CDs I work with. I also run humidifiers all the time. My house is a maze of contraptions with steam coming out of them, haha! My kitties think the house is a wonderous place, with steaming mountains to chase each over over!
I believe My voice is a gift, that very few people have been given, and I have to cherish and care for it constantly.
Where are you from?
SNI: I am from the United States (Maryland), and I live in beautiful Kentucky currently. I am lucky enough to have two families, my US family (my Mom & kitty cats), and another family who has "adopted" me (in a manner of speaking), as part of their own, in the United Kingdom, my Daddy Maurice, and Angel Jan! "Angels...here on Earth..."
How much do you charge for a solo Illusions show?
SNI: There are many variables, but the basic for a one/two hour show is $1500-$2000 + travel expenses and hotel.
What songs do you do in the show?
SNI: Changes with each show, for each venue, guaranteed are "Edge Of Seventeen" & "Stand Back".
Who are some of your favourite musical artists?
SNI: Gino Vannelli, George Michael, Teena Marie, Marvin Gaye, India Arie, Sade, Dave Matthews, Justin Timberlake, Eryka Badu, and of course Stevie & Fleetwood Mac!
Have you ever met Stevie?
SNI: No, I have gotten backstage 4 times, and met her band, her manager, etc...but the elusive beauty has never been back there. I do speak with her wonderful Mom on the phone, and also know her always nice brother, Christopher.
What would you like the visitors to this page to know about you or SNI?
SNI: About my shows, whether solo, or with Timeless, I believe in putting EVERYTHING into them, not just dressing like Stevie, and sounding just like Stevie...but the WHOLE PACKAGE...from the moment I step into that venue...from the way I talk, the way I move, dance, EVERYTHING "is" as Stevie would do it...
I think the fans who come to see a TRIBUTE show deserve NO LESS. I am constantly complimented on my singing, which is wonderful, and I would think people EXPECT a tribute artist to SOUND LIKE their "artist"....BUT...I believe they may NOT expect to see and hear the show with SUCH accuracy to each DETAIL.
I don't compare my shows to any other SN or Mac tribute out there, as there really is no comparison, we are all VERY different in our look, and sound, and presentation. We each choose to "go our own way" with our tribute, and who would want it any other way? I wish all the best for them, and hope I get around to seeing their shows, one day!
Thank you, Stevie, may you continue to rock for many years to come..
And thank you, wonderful fans of Stevie!
Bright Blessings,
Barbara |
