| Formed in 2001, 3against1 came together with one common goal: to create a sound fueled by emotion. Their music is charged with energy, seduction, creativity, thought provoking vocals and fluid arrangements. Singer/guitarist Mark Weiss tastefully blends catchy hook-driven choruses with conflicting lyrics of sexual energy, sadness and anger, delivered in a display of unapologetic self-expression. Once on stage, Mark seduces the entire crowd, who devours everything and anything Weiss has to offer. His flirtatious play and winking eye gives way to his sometimes soft, sometimes screaming vocals. All of his talent aside, the chicks dig him.
3against1’s eclectic and unique style begins and ends with high-energy guitar riffs, accompanied by hard-driving bass lines, subtle breakdowns and powerful driving beats. Drummer Saul Ashley and bassist Steve Adams seamlessly lock in together. Steve’s bass envelops the listener in a blanket of low-end rhythmic sound while Saul’s beats try to harness the roller coaster ride that is the bands sound. His drumming ranges from chaotic flurries to strong backbeats, and is a style that refuses to go unnoticed. Together they are the unrelenting backbone of the band. Arnaud Lemaire’s guitar work alternates between subtle melodies one minute, and spills into creative controlled driving distorted rhythms the next. His experienced creativity and passion fuel the fire that is the 3against1 sound. Individually the four members of this band are incredible, together they are unstoppable.
In only a short time, this band’s accomplishments are not only impressive, they are virtually unheard of in today’s corporate music climate. They have managed to surpass not only their local contemporaries, but many national acts as well. The boys have licensed songs to MTV’s Real World as well as MTV’s Road Rules. A&E has picked up one of their songs for an upcoming show called “Inked”. The band has a song featured on Sony Playstation and Xbox’s “MX Unleashed”. 3against1 is sponsored by Budweiser and are the San Diego representatives for Bud True Music Live.
The band has had airplay on notable clear channel stations 91X and Rock 105.3 as well as 94.9, 95.5 in Los Angels and a number of college stations. The band has gained the respect of club owners, garnishing them the right to play with many national acts including Yellowcard, LA Guns, Rocket from the Crypt, The Pharcyde, Sprung Monkey and has earned them the right to play at many of Los Angeles’s key venues. All this in addition to being nominated two consecutive years by The San Diego Music Awards for Best Rock Band.
