Shannon "2P" Maggitt, the son of Darla Smalley and Darnell Maggitt was born on April 15, 1977 in the small town of Wynne, Arkansas where he was raised for the most part of his life, except for a few years in Newport News, VA, and Amarillo, TX while his father served in the military. 2P graduated from Wynne High in 1995 and attended college briefly at The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff until transfering to play basketball for Crowley's Ridge College in Paragould, AR. In February of 2000, his longtime girlfriend, Muna Aleem gave birth to thier first child, LaShawna Danielle Maggitt. The couple tied the knot in February of 2002, and in November thier second child, Jalen Cordell Maggitt was born.
